The foundation stone of the Meghalaya Skill and Innovation Hub at Mawdiangdiang in New Shillong will be laid by Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar tomorrow.
The Vice President and his wife Dr. Sudesh Dhankhar will be on a two day visit to Meghalaya from tomorrow.
Dhankar is also scheduled to also visit the IT Park and Raj Bhavan and meet Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and other senior officials.
He will visit Sohra on October 17 before leaving for New Delhi.
In view of the Vice President’s visit, the authorities have urged people to avoid traveling in and around Shillong unless required or for emergency purposes tomorrow and on October 17.
The Shillong Traffic Police stated that all types of heavy and medium motor vehicles including essential goods vehicles, gas cylinder vehicles, oil tankers, FCI trucks, local mini trucks, among others will not be allowed to ply towards Shillong and Sohra on October 16 and 17 until Dhankar’s departure.
According to the traffic arrangements for tomorrow, vehicles coming to YWCA junction towards Gurudwara junction will be diverted at Raj Bhawan towards All India Radio junction and beyond from 5 pm till the programme is over.
Vehicles coming from Gurudwara junction towards YWCA junction will be diverted at All India Radio junction towards IGP Point and beyond from 5 pm till the programme is over.
Vehicles coming from Golflink/Pynthorbah/BDW School towards Lailad Nongmynsong will be diverted at Pynthor market and to the road behind JN Stadium and Wahumkhrah Bridge and beyond from 2:30 pm.
Vehicles coming from Ishyrwat junction towards Nongmensong market will be diverted towards BSF Mawpat/ Umpling road and beyond from 2:30 pm.
Vehicles coming from Shillong Commerce College towards BK Bajoria School junction bridge will be diverted at Shillong Commerce College junction towards Don Bosco Square/Gurudwara and beyond from 2:30 pm.
Vehicles coming from MES junction and Nongrim Hills towards DAD junction at Demseiniong will be diverted at Nongrim Petrol Pump/MES junction towards Nongrim Hills/Goralane and beyond from 2:30 pm.
Vehicles coming from BK Bajoria School towards Fourth Furlong junction will be diverted at BK Bajoria School junction towards Shillong Commerce College and beyond from 2:30 pm.
