The District Election Officer of East Khasi Hills has taken note of several instances where the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has been flouted in the run-up to the February 27 Assembly election.
In a notification today, the DEO said that several posters, hoardings, banners, etc have been put up across East Khasi Hills by political parties and their candidates without following laid-down norms.
The DEO reiterated that permission has to be received from the Returning Officer of each affected Assembly constituency for any such displays, that the permission letter is displayed prominently in the poster, hoarding, banner, etc, and that the contact number of a person from the political party is also displayed in case of any doubts or clarification required.
