The West Jaiñtia Hills district administration will conduct a drive to remove street vendors from public footpath and main road in Jowai town on November 24.
The Deputy Commissioner in an order said eviction is necessary to prevent untoward incidents, to improve the flow of traffic and to address the inconvenience cause to the general public and pedestrians due to persistent occupation of public space by the hawkers/ street vendors.
Executive Magistrate WK Kharbuli will conduct the drive to remove street vendors from Thomas Jones junction till H.K Singh Higher Secondary School, Iawmusiang and especially vendors selling clothes near the DC’s office.
