Shillong, Oct 30: The ICFAI University Meghalaya marked a major institutional milestone with the release of a Special Cover commemorating the university at a programme held at Nongrimbah, Shillong on Wednesday.
Organised under the theme “ICFAI University Meghalaya – Empowering Youth and Building Futures”, the event recognised the university’s contribution to higher education, academic excellence, research and human resource development in Meghalaya and the Northeast.
The collaboration between the University and the Department of Posts, officials said, will help bring greater visibility to the university’s journey and preserve its milestone for a wider audience.
The programme was attended by former Rajya Sabha MP Wanweiroy Kharlukhi, Director of Postal Services (HQ) KVLN Murty, R. Padmanabhan, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Meghalaya Postal Division, Simonn Peter Dohling, Marketing Cell, Department of Posts, along with university officials, faculty, staff and students.
Kharlukhi underlined the role of education in societal development and the importance of recognising institutions that drive progress.
Murty spoke on the significance of philately in preserving institutional history, noting that a Special Cover holds a distinctive place in postal history as a lasting record of an institution’s identity and contribution.
In her address, Vice Chancellor Dr. Alicia Gatphoh highlighted the university’s role in expanding educational opportunities and empowering youth in the region.
