Shillong Traffic Police (STP) caught another 16 motorbikers in the last 48 hours who had illegally modified their exhaust pipes to produce excessive noise.
Superintendent of Police (Traffic) K. Prasad said that the drive against illegally modified exhausts will continue and stringent action will be taken against violators.
He urged that all motor vehicles to replace modified/altered exhausts with original ones as it cause inconvenience to the public.
The STP on October 10 caught seven motorbikers in violation of Section 182A(4)/190(2) of Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.
