Meghalaya’s Central Puja Committee (CPC) has penned a missive to Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighting the plight of persecuted Hindus in Bangladesh.
The decision to send a letter to the PM was taken at a protest meeting the CPC organised on October 17, which was attended by representatives of all major Shillong-based Hindu organisations.
Today, a four-member delegation of the CPC, consisting of its president Naba Bhattacharjee, general secretary JL Das, Hari Kola Pradhan and Gaurishankar Sha, submitted the memorandum to the PM through Governor Satya Pal Malik.
In it, they asked Modi to ensure the safety, protection of lives and places of worship of the Hindus in Bangladesh.
The memo also appealed to the PM to impress on his Bangladeshi counterpart the need to safeguard the rights of worship and related human rights.
