An animal vaccination cum health camp was conducted by the ICAR-KVK in Marapara village under Dalu block in West Garo Hills district yesterday.
The camp was held under the National Innovations on Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) project keeping in mind the economic losses experienced by farmers due to some prevalent diseases that occur in livestock and poultry. The ICAR-KVK said vaccination is the only measure to prevent these diseases.
The health camp was to vaccinate cattle against foot and mouth disease (FMD) in the adopted villages under NICRA project. Treatment of diseased animals was also done side by side.
Essential medicines along with mineral mixtures were also distributed among the participants. Around 30 villagers participated in the programme.
All the treatment and vaccination were carried out by Dr Sagarika Borah, STO (Animal Science) from KVK, West Garo Hills. Dr. Sanjay Chetry, Young professional, YP-II, NICRA project helped to coordinate the programme.
