Recognising the hard work and dedication of the Meghalaya ASHA Workers Union (MAWU), the ASHA (accredited social health activist) workers under Umden Primary Health Centre in Ri-Bhoi were felicitated today.
The function took place at Diwon village. Representatives of MAWU’s central body attended, with Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem acting as the chief guest and local MDC Balajied Rani the guest of honour.
Frontal leaders of the ASHA workers which included the president, general secretary and others office bearers were felicitated by Syiem, who also handed over the mementos to them as a mark of respect for their untiring efforts and sacrifices.
Syiem lauded the contribution made by the ASHA workers, especially in the added duty they have had since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic last year.
