To address strategies for the education of students with visual disabilities, a three-day Continuing Rehabilitation Education (CRE) programme began in the city today.
The programme was organised by the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities, Dehradun in association with CRC Shillong and Guwahati with an aim to foster a comprehensive understanding of inclusive education practices.
Sixty-five persons, including special educators from the Northeastern states attended the program.
Director of Meghalaya School Education Swapnil Tembe, CRC Director Ram Shakal Sahani, Dr. Pankay Kumar (Assistant Professor, NIEPVD) and other guests were present during the programme.
Sessions on the perspective of inclusive education, legal aspects of visual impairment education, vision, and visual impairment were discussed on the first day.
Organisers are hopeful that the event will make significant contributions to the advancement of educational practices for students with visual impairment.
