The Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organisations (CoMSO) took its campaign for the Inner Line Permit (ILP) back to the streets by putting up banners in public across the state today.
CoMSO blanketed several areas of the state capital, such as Motphran and Khyndailad, with banners calling on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to approve the Meghalaya Assembly’s resolution calling for the implementation of ILP in the state.
The groups’ other messages condemned the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and also demanded the passage of the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Amendment Bill, which the Governor declined to sign into law after it was approved by the Assembly.
CoMSO supporters also pinned black flags on private and public vehicles in the city and they will hold a sit-in protest in all districts of the state on December 4.
