Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma visited Ganesh Das Hospital and Reid Provincial Chest Hospital here today to inspect the installation of oxygen plants.
The oxygen generation plants in both these city hospitals are funded through the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM-CARES) Fund.
The plant at Ganesh Das Hospital has a capacity of 400 litres per minute (LPM) and can support a minimum of 40 beds with high-flow oxygen. The one at RP Chest Hospital has a capacity of 300 LPM and can support a minimum of 30 beds.
According to a release from the CM’s office, Sangma expressed his overall satisfaction at the progress of the installation work and informed that the plant at RP Chest Hospital will be made operational in about two days’ time.
The plant at Ganesh Das Hospital is already operational.
On the installation of O2 generation facilities at other hospitals around the state, Sangma said, “We are keeping a close watch to ensure that these are completed on time and that all the different infrastructure is ready and in place, to deal with any eventuality.”
During his visit the CM held discussions with doctors and medical teams of both hospitals on various issues, including bed capacity and manpower needs.
