The Meghalaya State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) for creation of a portal to track cases of crimes against children and by children as per the Juvenile Justice Act, 2005.
The commission also formally launched its revamped website on June 24 to foster awareness and improve connection between the commission and the public.
Social Welfare Minister Paul Lyngdoh attended the function in the presence of Chairperson Agatha K Sangma and Chairperson of the Meghalaya State Women’s Commission Iamonlang M Syiem.
During the event, the minister highlighted the recent surge of crimes against children and by children and highlighted the work done by the Police Department in cracking several cases related to child protection and also assured of the government’s commitment to ensure the protection of child rights in the State.
