Shillong, Jun 23: Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, who holds the Transport portfolio, today said the Meghalaya government is working on its proposed Vehicle Scrappage Policy 2025 and is aiming to roll it out before the end of the year.
Speaking to reporters, Dhar said the policy is currently being finalised and details regarding its implementation will be announced once the framework is ready.
“The process is underway and will take some time. Once everything is finalised, we will inform the public about the number of vehicles to be scrapped and the categories of vehicles that will come under the policy,” he said.
Dhar said the government is still putting the necessary mechanisms in place for the policy’s implementation. He added that while the process may take some time, the state is hopeful of introducing the policy within this year.
