Awards for the prize winners of a Rotary Club of Shillong photography competition were distributed at a function held today. The theme of the competition was “Pride of Shillong: Cherry Blossoms” and there were 85 photographers who took part.
The function was attended by Secretary of Information and Public Relations, Matsiewdor War Nongbri and other dignitaries.
The competition, which was organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations, was won by Debraj Debbarma, with Henry B Nongrum coming second and Leeno Shylla and Dondor War Tariang joint third. Consolation prizes were also awarded to five other photographers.
Speaking at the function, War Nongbri congratulated the participants and prize winners and stated that the photography competition on cherry blossoms was apt considering that the annually held Cherry Blossom Festival could not be organized in 2020 on account of the Covid-19 situation in the state and country.
She also said that the event has contributed towards showcasing the beauty of Meghalaya to the world while further adding that the event has helped provide a source of motivation to the participating photographers.
