The one-day Regional Knowledge Sharing Workshop for ‘Best Practices’ under Megha-LAMP (Meghalaya Livelihood Access to Market Project) organised by the District Project Management Unit (DPMU), Basin Development Unit (BDU) East Khasi Hills was held on May 27 at the headquarter of Bharat Scouts & Guides, Shillong to felicitate the “Champions of Best Practices” under different categories.
Wankit Swer, General Manager, Knowledge Management (KM), MBMA/MBDA who was the chief guest on the occasion lauded the efforts of the DPMU for organising such an important and memorable event especially in honour of the Champions (successful entrepreneurs) who have done an excellent works in the field of enhancement of livelihood and development in the community by various means of activities through Integrated Village Cooperative Societies (IVCS), Village Employment Committees and individual leading entrepreneurs.
While speaking on the major contributions of the Megha-LAMP project to the community, Swer noted that the project has been extended to another two years so that the people can avail maximum benefit from it.
Ivan R. Marbaniang, District Project Manager, DPMU, BDU East Khasi Hills while giving a keynote address gave a details explanation in the form of powerpoint presentation on the ongoing Megha-LAMP project, different learning, challenges faced by the members of different institutions and the way forward to overcome them.
Others spoken at the occasion included RS Nongbri (Regional Head, MSME), Teibor Kharshiing (Consultant of MBMA/MBDA), Balaiohmon Rympei (Deputy Manager DPMU, East Khasi Hills) and Fabian Malang (Senior Manager, NRM/FS, SPMU-MBMA/MBDA). The programme was chaired by Albinus Nongkynrih (Assistant Manager of Enterprise Facilitation Centre, Mawryngkneng C&RD Block).
The day was marked with the facilitation and handed over of memento and a cash prize to the winners of different categories which included Nongkdait Nongtwah IVCS of South West Khasi Hills, Custom Hiring Centre of Nongshram Area IVCS, West Khasi Hills, Collective Marketing Centre of Umwang Pyllun IVCS, Ri Bhoi, Musakhia VEC (NRM), West Jaintia Hills, Iatoh Jingmut Producer Group of Khlieh Myntriang village, East Jaintia Hills, and Ermain Ranee, Service Provider of Swer IVCS of Laitkroh C&RD Block.
The day ended with highly energetic musical songs performed by the local band popularly known as ‘Three Amigos’.
