An international conference on “Natural Farming for Revitalising Environment and Resilient Agriculture” NF-RERA – 2023 will be held from March 17 to 19, 2023 at Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal.
The conference will have eight technical sessions – (i) Natural Farming and Socio-Economic Transformation of Rural Households in Wetland Ecosystems, (ii) Food System diversity including the Transition Pathways to Sustainable Food Systems in different Ecosystem, (iii) Integration of Trans-disciplinary Science and Local Knowledge for Transformation of Food Systems in various ecosystems, (iv) Role of Traditional Environmental Management with Ecosystem Resilience Against Vulnerabilities, Shocks and Stresses, (v) Incorporating Ecological Principles as an Operational Framework for Transitioning to Sustainable Agriculture in Diverse Agro Ecosystems, (vi) Nature of Poverty, Food Insecurity and Environmental Degradation as the Recurrent Problems in Major Farming Systems, (vii) Ecosystem Valuation and Policy Intervention at Government Level, (vii) Role of Livestock in Natural Resources Management.
Each technical session will be chaired by Vice Chancellors, Directors and high level officers and a keynote address will be presented by them. A series of lead papers will be presented by participants and then, in-depth discussion will be organised. Some of the research findings will be presented there in the form of posters.
The keynote address in the first technical session will be delivered by Dr. A K Singh, Vice Chancellor, Rani Lakshmi Bai Central Agricultural University, Jhansi (Uttar Pradesh). Likewise, the keynote address in the second technical session will be delivered by Dr. Probir Kumar Ghosh, Director and Vice-Chancellor, ICAR- NIBSM, Raipur (Chhattisgarh); in third technical session by Dr. Manas Mohan Adhikary, former Vice Chancellor, Bidhan Chandra Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (West Bengal), in the fourth technical session by Dr. Kalidas Shetty, Professor of Plant Science, Founding Director of Global Institute of Food Security & International Agriculture (USA); in fifth technical session by Dr Puranjan Das, former Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension) ICAR, New Delhi; sixth technical by Dr R S Chandel, Vice Chancellor of Y S Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan (Himachal Pradesh); seventh technical session by Dr. Vandana Dwivedi, Advisor, Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, New Delhi and last technical session will be addressed by Dr. Kamal Malla Bujarbaruah, former Deputy Director General (Animal Science), ICAR, New Delhi and Vice-Chancellor, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat.
In the three-day conference 25 lead papers will be presented by scientists of agriculture and allied disciplines. Further, 38 papers will be presented by scientists from 14 foreign countries like Thailand, Bangladesh, Germany, Russia, England, USA, Finland, Israel, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Belgium, Vietnam, and Nepal.
Besides 155 research papers in different technical sessions will be presented by 135 scientists and research scholars. Each session will also have a poster presentation on the theme concerned. Altogether, 198 posters from different participating scientists will be displayed in this conference.
