A farmers awareness, capacity building and training programme was organised by the Project Implementation Committee Umtongsyiem-Umjilieng and Mylliem in collaboration with the office of the Divisional Soil & Water Conservation Officer, Shillong (Territorial) Division at Madan Ing Syiem, Mylliem today.
Cabinet minister and local MLA, Hamletson Dohling who graced the programme as the chief guest lauded the committee for conducting such programmes which will enhance the productivity of the farmers. Stating that farmers are the spine of the society, he urged the farmers to implement all the knowledge received to their best capabilities.
He also informed that there are numerous schemes available for farmers in the state, he urged the farmers to visit various governmental offices which deals directly with the welfare of farmers in order to avail such schemes.
The minister also lauded the efforts put in by various stakeholders in making the programme a success.
The resource persons for the programme include Harvester Dohling, Assistant Director of Agriculture (Information), O/o District Training Office and Wanshan K Kharkongor, Divisional Officer, Soil & Water Conservation, Shillong (Territorial) Division.
During the day the minister also distributed 250 sprayer pumps, two power tillers and Rs 4000 each for improvement of agricultural land to 464 beneficiaries from 15 villages under Mylliem Them area.
