Law Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh today said there is no business to carry out arms and form militant groups simply because of unemployment and economic challenges.
“Unemployment is a phenomenon of any nation. You may be a developed nation or an underdeveloped nation… you may be a first world country or last world country, but the fact is you will always have this new generation of people coming into the jobs circle and just because there is no jobs, there is no business for you to carry the arms,” Lyngdoh said.
She lauded the police for making an all out effort in nabbing members of the nascent National Liberation Council of Nongkyndong (NLCN) and said that the government will not allow militancy to flourish and raise its ugly head in the State. “We will go all out against such activities and the police force has done the correct thing which sends a big message that we will say no to insurgency,” she added.
She further reiterated, “I would not assign unemployment as a big factor but I would say that a nation that rises to its challenges, the state that recognizes its challenges will have to step up and our government under MDA 2.0 is creating job opportunities.”
