The Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organization (HITO) has suggested the State government to cancel all unnecessary seasonal festivals that does not benefit the public and pay pending dues to school teachers.
Stating that while the pandemic still hovers and festival attendees do not maintain and follow guidelines, HITO in a letter to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that all types of festivals organised by the government, which are non-profit should be cancelled and consider only those festivals which will provide maximum economic benefits to the members of the public.
“Instead of hosting a number of upcoming winter and spring festivals in the state, the MDA government should turn an eye on the pending salary of school teachers of the state who are in deep financial and social-economic problems at their personal level due to the delay in disbursement of salary by the state government,” HITO demanded.
The organisations further said that the government should take serious note of the problems of teachers, who have dedicated their service to groom students with quality education.
Expecting an amicable solution to the problems of teachers HITO said the government should not allow any political propaganda to take place for the interest of the state.
