The Child Friendly Shillong in collaboration with Shillong Traffic Police and youths of St. Edmunds College (MSW department), Department of Social Work Martin Luthur Christian University, IIPS, William Carey University (MSW department) and Women’s college (BSW department) on October 18, organized a campaign on the need for children to wear helmets while riding two wheelers.
The campaign was organized at Don Bosco Square, Dhankheti and Fire Brigade to raise awareness among the public informing them about the law on wearing helmets, that the law is not only for adults but children also are needed to wear helmets.
The youths also explained to the public how helmets can save a life in case any accident occurs and it is one of the most important safety gears.
Awareness materials, one to one interaction with the public to know their views, signature petitions were some of the activities conducted.
Child Friendly Shillong also said that the youths will continue the campaign in their respective colleges, universities and communities through various activities and mediums like poster campaign, video production of public views and social media.
