A bust of the late DN Joshi, a six-time MLA, was unveiled today at Jhalupara here.
The bust was sponsored by South Shillong MLA and cabinet minister Sanbor Shullai, the Meghalaya Veer Gorkha Ex-Serviceman’s Welfare Association (MGEWA) and the family members of the late Joshi.
Shullai recalled the contribution of Joshi in the fields of social welfare and political activities. Joshi was elected to six consecutive terms as MLA from the inception of Meghalaya in 1972 to 2002, representing the then Cantonment and Mawprem constituencies and he was the first non-tribal MLA to occupy the post of Cabinet Minister.
