The Border Security Force (BSF), Meghalaya has foiled smuggling attempts in two separate operations carried out along the Indo-Bangladesh border, with the seizure of buffalo horns and liquor worth over Rs 13 lakhs.
A BSF statement said the operations were carried out on September 19 and 20 by the 193 Battalion.
An Indian national was apprehended for smuggling of the buffalo horns, found concealed in bags in a vehicle.
The same battalion successfully seized liquor worth over Rs 13 lakhs, which was intended for smuggling into Bangladesh.
However, no details were provided to the media from which area the seizures were made.
“The BSF remains dedicated to ensuring the security of the nation’s borders and will continue to take decisive action against smuggling and related activities,” the statement said.
