Troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) in BSF Meghalaya rescued 25 cattle along the international border in East Khasi Hills meant for smuggling to Bangladesh.
The cattle smugglers were detected by troops stationed at the mobile check post in Nongshken area while they were taking the cattle towards a forest area.
The BSF said the smugglers managed to flee when the BSF pursued them leaving the cattle behind.
“Smugglers often hide cattle in the forest area and try to cross them through unfenced patches on getting the opportunity,” BSF said.
