The troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) rescued 17 cattle tethered in the bushes close to the international border in West Jaiñtia Hills district.
The BSF today said that the cattle were rescued yesterday. Smugglers often hide cattle in the forest area and try to cross them through unfenced patches on getting the opportunity, the BSF said.
Altogether 3481 cattle were seized in 2022 along the international border and the force is continuing its efforts to make border crime and smuggling free, the BSF added.
