The Border Security Force (BSF) in Meghalaya yesterday seized medicines and clothing worth Rs 17 lakh which were meant to be smuggled to Bangladesh.
The seizures were made from the international border of East Jaiñtia Hills.
Acting on specific information, a BSF party of 172 Battalion carried out an operation in the bordering area of Hingaria. During the operation, BSF seized medicines that had been dumped near the international border, meant for smuggling into Bangladesh.
The team also seized sarees while being smuggled into Bangladesh from the international border.
The seized items were handed over to the concerned customs office for further necessary action.
In another operation, troops of the 4 Bn BSF Meghalaya seized sarees in the bordering area of East Khasi Hills while being smuggled into Bangladesh.
