A two-day national workshop on “Application of open-source software for library automation: KOHA and DSpace 7” concluded at the Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) today.
The workshop was organised by Dr. Homiwell Library of the university in collaboration with College Internal Quality Assessment Cell (IQAC), Sankardev and (IQAC) MLCU.
Librarian of the North Eastern Hill University Dr. F.R. Sumer who attended the workshop as the resource person highlighted about DSpace 7 and KOHA an open-source software, as important components for the automation of library. A hands-on session for the participants allows them to explore the practical applications of KOHA and DSpace.
The interactive workshop provided a deeper understanding on how to leverage these tools for library automation and digital asset management.
Prof. Sanjay K Singh, Head of Department of Library and Information Science, Guwahati University, Kausik Singha, Project Manager –Library Automation (East & North East India Region), Rapid Radio Solutions Pvt. Ltd. and Alovi Zhimomi, visiting faculty School of Agriculture Science, Nagaland University were the guest speakers.
The guest speakers spoke about the values of libraries in the context of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, RFID Automation in Libraries, Right Technology Selection, and Myth Busters on it and Use of open-source software KOHA in library automation.
MLCU Vice Chancellor, Prof. TK Kharbamon, IAQC Sankardev College, Manbor Singh Warjri, 30 library professionals from institutions within and outside the state and faculty and IT students of MLCU attended the workshop.
