The BJP has lashed out at State Congress president and Shillong MP Vincent Pala for stating that Congress was ready to join the MDA government if BJP is kicked out.
“The Congress dream of others leaving BJP aside and wanting to form an alliance with them is a mockery of the dynamics of coalition politics. People of the State know well that BJP is a strong and steady partner in MDA 2 and its presence in the coalition gives MDA 2 the might to forge ahead with people-centric policies and development agenda. Citizens are aware that BJP is an important ally in MDA 2 and are keenly observing the functioning of the government and at the same time ensuring that the dividends of the Central policies made for the benefit of the people reaches the beneficiaries,” the BJP said in a statement.
“The Congress is trying to grab cheap publicity. It is common knowledge that Congress is a sinking ship in Meghalaya in particular and across the country in general, whose fate of doom can be saved by none. For the Congress it is a bitter pill to swallow that they are out of MDA. These statements of the Congress are nothing but diversionary tactics to dilute the huge attention, love and respect our Prime Minister is receiving at the global stage,” the BJP said in a statement.
Accusing the Congress as a party infamous for its saga of scams, the BJP said running a non-corrupt government is something which is alien to Congress.
“The Congress statement is reflective of the fear of the grand old party of BJP’s “transparent and zero tolerance corruption policy”.
It may be mentioned that Pala had recently stated that Congress is ready to be part of the MDA government if BJP is removed from the ruling alliance.
His statement came after Congress joined hands with NPP to form the Khasi Hills Democratic Front (KHDF) and snatched power from the UDP in Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
