The Central Election Committee of the BJP will meet in New Delhi on January 31 to decide the list of candidates for Meghalaya.
According to sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party’s national president J P Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other members of the Central Election Committee besides party in-charge of Meghalaya will attend the meeting.
Already, the State BJP has prepared the list of candidates from all 60 constituencies.
The party had many aspirants for ticket in a number of constituencies.
In North Shillong, the two ticket aspirants are former IPS officer Mariahom Kharkrang and Michael Kharsyntiew.
Similarly, the BJP has as many as five ticket aspirants in Kharkutta, Mendipathar, and Bajengdoba.
There are also four ticket aspirants for the North Tura constituency and three aspirants from Phulbari.
In Dalu, Mahendraganj and Tikrikilla there are two aspirants respectively for BJP ticket.
The BJP will decide the ticket in these constituencies based on an internal survey to assess who among the aspirants has an edge.
The internal survey has projected that the party may win 10-15 seats in the polls.
