A 4.8 magnitude earthquake with its epicentre in Bangladesh was felt in various parts of the North East, including Meghalaya, this morning.
The 10:16am tremor was at a depth of 70km below the surface and was felt in several areas of Bangladesh, centred on Gopalganj. No loss of life or damage to property has been reported yet.
This is the second earthquake to strike the neighbouring country in recent weeks. On May 26, a 5.2 magnitude earthquake hit the country, with its epicentre located in the same area as that of today.
