Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma in presence of MLA, Rajabala, Abdus Saleh, inaugurated the new Batabari C&RD Block in West Garo Hills today.
Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister expressed happiness that the long pending demand of the people could be brought to fruition and said that the creation of the new block will bring administration closer to the people.
“It is the endeavour of the present government to ensure development initiatives reach the people living in remotest parts of the State and this new C&RD block will enable Government services and schemes to be delivered efficiently”, he said.
At the same function the Chief Minister along with the dignitaries unveiled the plaque and inaugurated the veterinary dispensary located at Bhaitbari (Rajpur) constructed under NABARD at an estimated cost of Rs 90.4 lakhs.
The Chief Minister also distributed funds amounting to Rs 1.41 crore under Focus + to 2,822 producer households. Under Progress, 1200 piglets were also distributed to 300 farmer households as well as Kuroiler poultry birds to 100 beneficiaries.
The Chief Minister also made a Direct Benefit Transfer to 23,491 beneficiaries amounting to Rs 11.75 crore under FOCUS+.
