An awareness cum hands-on training programme on ‘Basic Techniques of Plantation’ was organised by the Botanique Club, Department of Botany of Sankardev College, Shillong yesterday at the college premises.
The program was sponsored by the Directorate of School Education and Literacy- SAMAGRA SHIKSHA ABHIYAN, Education Department.
The resource person at the programme was Horticulture Development Officer, Donbor Sing R. Sohliya who spoke on the basic techniques of plantation of indoor plants, their advantages and methods of propagation.
A practical demonstration and training on setting up of gradening, planting, potting, re-potting was conducted by Ranbit Kumar Rai and Campbell Kharbithati of the Horticulture Department.
Sankardev College Principal Eureka FP Lyngdoh, Head of the Botany Department M Umdor also spoke during the programme.
Students from Shishu Mandir School, Dainty Buds School, Pine View Academy, St John Bosco School, Malki Presbyterian school, Raid Laban School, Lawsohtun Presbyterian School, Laban Bengalee Boys Higher Secondary School, Sankardev College Higher Secondary Section, degree students of the college along with the members of Botanique Club participated in the programme.
