The office of the District Legal Services Authority, South West Khasi Hills District today organized an awareness programme on Poverty Alleviation Scheme which was held in the training hall of the Block Development Officer, Mawkyrwat C&RD Block.
The awareness programme was attended by S. Nongsiej of the office of the Block Development Mawkyrwat and N. Hahshah, Panel Lawyer, DLSA, Mawkyrwat as the persons.
Nongsiej highlighted on the various important schemes implemented by the office with a view to uplift the living conditions of poor people especially Below Poverty Line families. He also informed that there are various schemes under Poverty Alleviation Programmes which targets on Self Employment and Wage Employment in order to uplift the economic condition of the poor.
He also spoke on the National Social Assistance Programme with different components and informed that the office is implementing National Rural Livelihood Mission with a view to assist the poor in forming SHGs and to provide them with trainings in order to increase their income, bank linkage, loans, etc.
Hahshah informed the people about the various assistance that the office of the District Legal Services provided for those in need of help and assistance.
