At least 10 shops located at Baridua, 10 Mile market in Ri Bhoi district, were gutted in a fire today morning, but nobody was injured in the incident, official said.
The fire broke out in one of the shops at around 4 am and soon spread to some of its adjoining stores, he said.
“After the fire brigade was alerted about the incident, fire engines from both Meghalaya and Assam were rushed to the spot,” Baridua headman, Augustine Nongrum.
The market suffered more than Rs 30 lakh loss even as cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
