Army job aspirants today took to the streets of Shillong to demand for a Common Entrance Examination (CEE) and Army recruitment rally to be conducted at the earliest.
According to them there are over 800 aspirants who were supposed to sit for the CE examination called in 2021, which was delayed after the Covid-19 pandemic.
They said as per their information, the examination was cancelled by authorities.
The job aspirants marched from the 101 area raising the ‘we want justice’ slogan, but were stopped by police before reaching the Secretariat.
The demonstration also saw the protest against the Agnipath scheme.
According to them, the Tour of Duty (ToD) recruitment mode in which civilians could be recruited into the armed forces for four years would only spoil the dream of many youths to secure a permanent and secure job with the Indian Army.
