The Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organization (HITO) has requested the Deputy Commissioner of Ri-Bhoi to reopen weekly and daily markets in the district.
HITO said that reopening the weekly and daily markets, such as those at Umsning, Mawhati, Umroi, Byrnihat, Nongpoh and Umden will enable farmers to sell their agricultural products and earn their livelihoods.
Informing that the Myntri in charge of the area told HITO that he is waiting for the DC’s order to reopen the markets, the organisation has appealed for permission so that the farmers of Ri-Bhoi can get their lives back on track after the disruption brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.
