The All Selsella NGOs’ Alliance (ASNA) has written to the Joint Director of School Education and Literacy in Tura to appeal for the appointment of a Garo language teacher in Haldibari Higher Secondary School.
According to the organisation, the school has no Garo language teacher despite many students opting for Garo as a Modern Indian Language or GSL.
This is harming their prospects and could affect their academic performance and is also an affront to their fundamental right to receive education in their mother tongue, ASNA said.
