The A’chik Organisation for Social Welfare (AOSW) has written to the Chief Executive Officer of the Williamnagar Municipal Board today to request that the motorbike repair shops be removed from Williamanagar bazaar in order to decongest the area.
The AOSW claimed in the letter that the bike repair shops encroach on the road, thereby leaving little space for pedestrians and motorists. It also alleged that the shops pollute the neighbourhood with the discharge of engine oil, etc and that the non-tribals working there often do so without the required licence from the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council.
