With anti-vaccination rumours flooding social media, questioning the efficacy and even the safety of the Covishield jab, the Sub-Divisional Officer of Amlarem civil sub-division, Abhilash Barranwal, today warned those who spread such false rumours that they will be subjected to imprisonment if found guilty.
Barranwal said that social media is often used to spread these rumours. He thus passed an order whereby those circulating such messages could face jail time of one year under the Disaster Management Act 2005 and/or three years under the Indian Penal Code.
The order was passed on Friday.
