I am so happy and delighted to know that SpiceJet will be starting another route from our airport – the Shillong-Kolkata route which will start from 16th October 2023.
After many requests made to SpiceJet as well as to the DGCA, we are now seeing another route, which is a very viable route and was operated by Indigo airlines, a lone operator which operates nonstop flights between Kolkata and Shillong, with sky-high rocketing fares since it is a very demanding route.
Now with the addition of this flight by SpiceJet, to start the Kolkata-Shillong-Kolkata route nonstop daily flights the fares will be more flexible and also convenient to travel.
I express my gratitude to SpiceJet for taking seriously over my request and petition for operating this route and also to the DGCA for giving us more and more convenient and flexible travel from our beautiful lone Shillong (Umroi Airport).
This initiative will be a big boost for tourism and more in flow of air passengers to our lovely state. Looking forward to more direct flights to other metro cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad etc.
From a time of infancy where we have just a single flight, now we can see many flights operating from Shillong Airport. The increase of passenger traffic has also increased incredibly thereby demanding more flights to connect our state to the rest of the country.
I am happy to see that our airport is operating well and will see many transformations in the future.
