An organisation dedicated to rescue of stray animals, Happytails have complaint to the police against two men who made a failed attempt to hit a sleeping dog at Mawlai, Umshing Umajapung.
As per the video shared by the organisation, two armed boys launched an attack on a dog seen napping in a shade without any apparent cause. However, the dog managed to flee.
Members of the organisation had approached the Mawkynroh-Umshing police outpost today wherein the rangbah shnong and the rangbah dong of the locality were also summoned.
According to the Happytails, an announcement was made by the dorbar emphasising on responsible pet ownership to ensure that pets are supervised and not to roam freely due to fear expressed by locals of potential dog bites.
The dorbar also denied that no directive was issued to harm or kill dogs.
Later in the evening, a public announcement was made by the dorbar warning against harming or killing of dogs.
“The incident highlights the detrimental impact of such actions, not only on the innocent animals but also on community dynamics. The spread of aggression in dogs often stems from traumatic experiences inflicted by humans, perpetuating a cycle of fear and hostility,” Happytails said.
“Investigation remains ongoing as we continue to search for the unidentified individuals responsible for this heinous act,” the organisation said.
