Health and Family Welfare Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh conducted a visit to Ri-Bhoi today to assess the status of various pending demands related to the health sector.
Accompanied by Umsning MLA Dr Celestine Lyngdoh and other officials from the Health Department, Ampareen visited the Maternal and Child Health Hospital in Umran Parila village, which has yet to be inaugurated despite the completion of its infrastructure.
She also visited Nongpoh Civil Hospital and the nursing institute in Pahamsyiem. The latter, however, remains non-operational to this day.
During the inspection of these two facilities, the minister was accompanied by Nongpoh legislator Mayralborn Syiem and health officials.
Speaking to the media after the inspection, Ampareen emphasised the importance of infrastructure, including the MCH in Umran Parila, the trauma centre at Nongpoh Civil Hospital and the nursing institute in Pahamsyiem.
She pledged to address these issues seriously with the government to ensure the functional operation of these centres.
The minister stressed that these facilities are crucial in meeting the healthcare needs of the local population, aligning with the government’s healthcare proposals to benefit the people with improved healthcare facilities.
