The Khasi Students Union (KSU) has again reported absence of a Science teacher and this time in Sohkha Government Higher Secondary School in West Jaiñtia Hills district.
According to the War Jaiñtia circle of the union, the post of a Chemistry teacher remained vacant since March this year, after a teacher left to pursue his Bachelor of Education.
The KSU who were informed about the situation by residents visited the school today led by the circle general secretary Lurman Talang, district unit general secretary Leningrad Tariang.
Talang said it is surprising that over 8 months the government school was running without a Chemistry teacher, which not only scuttle the hope of students to get good quality education but this has put them in a dilemma as the pre-selection and selection examinations are round the corner.
The KSU leader said the State government has shun away from its responsibilities to provide quality education and should find ways and means to ensure that the students of the school are able to prepare for the examination.
It may be mentioned that the KSU in East Jaiñtia Hills also reported about the Rymbai Government Secondary School that runs without a Science teacher for almost a year now.
