An abandoned bag, suspected to contain a bomb, turned out to be false. Police found 5.629 kg cannabis in it.
The incident disrupted normalcy in the busy market area.
Police said when the bag was found near Matri mandir at around 2pm, a person identified as Nijimu Fithu (24) Kenuozou Colony, Kohima appeared to claim it.
However, the bomb disposal team proceeded with necessary protocols and conducted a thorough inspection of the bag to rule out any potential threat.
During the search, the team detected five packets covered with cargo tape and two packets covered with posters.
Later, the Anti Narcotic Task Force took over the packets, which tested positive of cannabis.
The accused has been arrested and investigation is on.
