The Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS) successfully concluded its comprehensive four-day Local Training Providers (LTP) state level workshop, today, at the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Mawdiangdiang, New Shillong.
The workshop empowered 119 empanelled LTPs, representing 86 training institutes, with advanced tools to strengthen Meghalaya’s skill ecosystem, targeting the skilling of over 23,000 candidates across key sectors.
Addressing the valedictory programme, Principal Secretary, Department of Labour, Employment & Skill Development Challienkhum Songate lauded the LTPs as “change makers of society,” emphasizing their role in aligning training programs with Meghalaya’s economic priorities for FY 2025–26.
As frontline agents of change, these LTPs will spearhead the alignment of training programs with state economic priorities while amplifying learner impact across critical sectors, he said.
Moreover, Certificates of empanelment and MOUs were awarded to 17 training providers, while 65 LTPs received work orders under the restructured mission.
With the aim to strengthen the capacity of training providers, to identify and address skill gaps at the block and village levels, and to initiate targeted support mechanisms for youth, MSSDS released the work order of the revamped and repurposed CM Skills Mission for the current financial year.
Panel discussions and sectoral meetings, for local livelihoods and global opportunities focused on critical sectors like Agriculture & Food Processing, Tourism & Hospitality, Apparel & Textiles, and Construction, were conducted.
