Over 1,500 students from 28 states received degrees in Doctoral, Postgraduate, and Undergraduate programs from Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal 13 constituent colleges spread across the Northeast region during the 5th Convocation Ceremony held in Tripura.
Among them, the College of Community Science, CAU, Tura, made a notable contribution to the celebration, with 97 students who graduated between 2019 and 2024 registering for the convocation. Of these, 37 students attended the ceremony in person, and eight were awarded Gold Medals for their outstanding academic performance.
Kaelcedoni G Momin (Batch of 2022) and Choksimsa Wegara R Marak (Batch of 2020) from Tura were among the eight students from the College to receive Gold Medals for their BSc Honours degree in Food, Nutrition and Dietetics and BSc Community Science degrees respectively.
In total, 33 undergraduate and 20 postgraduate students from across CAU were honoured with Gold Medals, recognizing their academic distinction. Additionally, the prestigious Akoijam Udhab Singh Memorial Award was conferred upon nine outstanding doctoral scholars.
Prof. Indira Sarangthem, Director of Instruction, Dean, and Chairman of the Board of Studies, presented the candidates for the conferment of degrees. Dr. T. R. Sharma, Registrar, led the academic procession and presented the Gold Medal and Memorial Medal awardees.
ISRO Chairman and Secretary Dr. V. Narayanan graced the event as the chief guest. In his keynote address, he congratulated the graduates and applauded CAU for nurturing future leaders in agriculture and allied sciences. He inspired students to align their personal goals with the nation’s aspirations and emphasised India’s emergence as a global power and highlighted the pivotal roles of agriculture and science in driving transformation.
CAU Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Kumar Joshi lauded the Indian Armed Forces and praised the successful completion of Operation Sindoor. He emphasized CAU’s role in promoting natural farming, organic agriculture, and research in medicinal and forest crops, urging students to contribute meaningfully to sustainable and inclusive growth.
CAU Vice Chancellor Dr. Anupam Mishra reaffirmed the university’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation in research, and community engagement through extension education.
