The future of governance lies in leveraging AI and data-driven technology to ensure efficient and transparent governance, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said today.
He said this on social media after inaugurating the AI technology-based company iMerit’s office at the Shillong IT Park in Umsawli.
“Our government is fully committed to fostering a conducive ecosystem for IT and tech companies to thrive,” Sangma said. “Technology is the backbone of a well-functioning society and we are tirelessly working to harness its power for effective governance.”
Terming Shillong as a preferred choice for setting up IT-enabled companies, the CM said, “Government has initiated interventions to create an ecosystem for IT enabled services to thrive. The government is implementing projects to ensure fast and reliable internet connectivity across the state”.
Talking about data driven governance, which is going to play a bigger role, he said, “Data has been one of the key ingredients that the government has been using to make key decisions to make the maximum impact with the limited resources”.
Informing that technology is being used by the government for streamlining different interventions, from monitoring the health of mothers and children to mapping vegetation, flora and fauna diversity in the state.
Sangma also said that the role of technology is being explored for smart solutions and as a government it encourages companies to invest and explore the potential Meghalaya has to offer.
iMerit is a global artificial intelligence company with a workforce of more than 5000 across India, the USA, Europe, Turkey and Bhutan providing end-to-end technology solutions in critical industries like Medical AI, agricultural AI, automotive/electric vehicles, e-commerce, geospatial, government, financial services.
