A man was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment in a case going back to 2015.
It was on February 11 that year that Trebor Hinge was the victim of a “brutal murder” at the hands of Ram Dhar in Nongbah village. The case was investigated and charge-sheeted by Sub-Inspector S Pariat.
After the culmination of the trial, the Court of Jowai Sessions Judge NA Khan found Dhar guilty of murder and convicted under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. He was duly sentenced to life in prison and fined Rs 5,000.
In addition, the court has recommended compensation of Rs 3 lakh to the victim’s family. This was stated today in a press release issued by the West Jaintia Hills Superintendent of Police.
