Pressure groups in West Khasi Hills today stalled a job interview for various posts conducted by the Social Welfare department in Nongstoiñ.
According to the groups led by the Hynñiewtrep Youth Council (HYC), West Khasi Hills and Mawshynrut Youth Movement (MYM), the interview was conducted only candidates who have registered under the employment exchange.
The interview as scheduled for the post of District Mission Coordinator, Gender Specialist, Specialist in Financial Literacy, Accountant Assistant, Data Entry Operator and Multi Tasking Staff.
HYC district president Lumlang Kharsyiemlieh and MYM president Shembor Rynñiaw said the department cannot sideline other job aspirants who might also have the qualifications. They said the department should publish an advertisement to the post before going ahead with the interview.
According to the groups, when the officer of the department refused to stop holding the interview, they had met with West Khasi Hill Deputy Commissioner, who had already postponed the interview through an order dated March 2.
