A teacher was killed and another injured after they were attacked by unidentified miscreants in Nonglang village under West Khasi Hills district, today.
The deceased identified as Tengton R Sangma (48) and the injured Surja Kumar Chetri (49).
Police said Sangma and Chetri, both teachers of a school in Aradonga, were on their way from Nongstoiñ to Langpih in a two-wheeler Hero Splendor bearing registration number AS-25-E-1324.
On reaching a turn near the Tyrsung River, a group of masked men emerged from a forest and attacked the teachers and then pushed the bike to a drain.
The miscreants fled after a bus passed by the area. The injured teacher was shifted to Nongstoiñ Civil Hospital for medical attention.
Police are on the lookout for the miscreants and investigation is on.
