The Meghalaya Human Rights Commission (MHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance regarding the alleged non-payment of salaries to six contractual employees of the Transport Department in South Garo Hills.
According to a media report, at least six contractual employees of the department have not received their salaries for over two years, with one employee passing away with dues of over 20 months still owed to him.
The commission has issued a notice to the Chief Secretary to inquire into the matter and submit a detailed report to the MHRC within 15 days.
